Become a Member-Owner!

Everyone is welcome to join as a Member-Owner. Membership requires a $150 (minimum) equity* investment. A payment plan option is available. We also have a low-income assistance program--inquire at the Customer Service Desk to learn more.

You are investing as an owner in the start-up financing of the co-op and have the opportunity to participate in the business development process. Your equity share will last long into the future entitling you to the benefits of River Valley Market cooperative ownership.

The co-op currently consists of more than 3,000 member-owners! Together we have opened our co-op for business to meet our mutual needs for a just marketplace in the Pioneer Valley.

Member-Owner benefits include

• Savings on hundreds of Member-Owner specials and discounts on case purchases.
• When the co-op is profitable, Member-Owners will be eligible for patronage rebates on purchases.
• Participation as a member-owner in the development of the co-op.
• A free subscription to the newsletter.
• Member rates on newsletter advertising.
• A vote in Board elections and any other co-op votes/elections.
• Eligibility to run as a candidate and serve on the Board.

*We are a start-up business requiring the use of member equity for opening expenses. Please note that while member-equity is potentially refundable in the future, member equity refunds cannot be made until the cooperative is operating at a stable level of profitability.
